It's a Channel 4 report on a Kenyan marathon runner, Kelvin Kiptum who smashed the world
record in Chicago in 2023 and became a superstar. The 23 year old athlete became the
fastest man running the 42km in 2 hours and 35 seconds whereas the previous record was
2h01.
Last April, he made his debut in the streets of London where he was the fastest runner ever.
Sadly, in February 2024 he died in a car accident aged 24 after he lost control of his vehicle
and hit a tree. His coach got killed in the accident too while a woman was injured.
As he was the only son in his family, his father is grieving. Despite his young age, he was
already married. His wife is mourning her two children's loving and caring father.
Before he passed away, he was training to beat a new record: running the marathon in less
than 2 hours (in Rotterdam)and for the Paris Olympic Games this summer. Unfortunately,
the athlete who was running faster and faster will never achieve his goals.
