On the top left corner of the flag, there is the UNION JACK as a reminder of the British Empire.

On the right side of the flag there are the five stars of the Southern Cross constellation. It is a strong symbol of how past sailors first came upon Australia and how the native Aborigine people navigate the land of the Outback.
