IT'S A HOAX

Yesterday, the police (say) that the photos of Nessie that (appear) in
newspapers last week were a hoax. "We (discover) evidence that
they are not authentic" (declare) a senior policeman yesterday
morning. "We are looking for the hoaxer, but we (not - find) him yet".

.IT'S A HOAX

Yesterday, the police said that the photos of Nessie that appeared  in newspapers last week were a hoax.

"We have discovered  evidence that they are not authentic" declared  a senior policeman yesterday morning. "We are looking for the hoaxer, but we haven't found him yet".

prétérit simple : passé/daté/terminé

present perfect : lien avec le présent, avec le moment d'énonciation. Au moment où le policier parle ...
