The three ways in which heat is transferred are conduction, convection, and radiation.
(a) For solids, the primary method of heat transfer is usually through conduction. Most solids have a dense molecular structure that facilitates direct particle movement to transmit thermal energy.
(b) In liquids, especially in fluids (liquids or gases), heat transfer often occurs through a process called "convection." This involves the fluid heating up becoming less denser thus rising while cooling down it becomes more denses hence sinking
(c) Gases also primarily use convective mode for transferring heat but can also utilize radiative mode if they are at high temperatures as observed on some stars notably
(d) Finally,in empty space or vacuum where there's no matter present so neither conductivity nor convention works . The only possible way then remains: radiation.
